Consumer goods group Unilever (LON:ULVR) reported higher annual revenue and profits but warned of a tough outlook in 2016.
Unilever, home to brands such as Marmite, Pot Noodle, Comfort fabric conditioner and Dove soap, said turnover in 2015 rose 10% to €53.3bn.
Underlying operating profit lifted 12% to €7.9bn but operating profit fell 6% to €7.5bn and net profit was down 5% at €5.3bn.
The company said underlying sales growth of 4.1% was ahead of its markets, with volume up 2.1% and price up 1.9%.
Unilever said 2015 was challenging with slower global economic growth, intensifying geopolitical instability and high currency and commodity volatility.
Chief executive Paul Polman said: "We are preparing ourselves for tougher market conditions and high volatility in 2016, as world events in recent weeks have highlighted. Therefore it is vital that we drive agility and cost discipline across our business."
The shares rose 68.5p to 2911.5p after the results. Analysts at Shore Capital said the figures were a little better than expectations, with revenue growth once again registering a "pleasing" beat and core EBIT margin expansion in-line.
"In light of the robust update we do not envisage changing our underlying earnings expectations for FY2016, noting currency volatility," they said.
"In volatile times these are very reassuring results from Unilever, which we welcome."
Growth in personal care, while still below historical run rates, improved from the slower growth of the previous year. Products that did well included deodorants and the Dove Advanced Hair Series.
Savoury showed good volume-driven growth led by cooking products in emerging markets and by innovations around naturalness and health such as Knorr Mealmakers.
The company introduced new longer-lasting freshness Comfort products and improved Cif cream cleaner.
Ice cream achieved strong growth driven by margin-accretive innovations behind premium brands, such as Magnum Pink and Black variants, the Ben & Jerry's Cores range and new flavours of Breyer's Gelato.
