ITM Power to build hydrogen station at CEME site

A memorandum of understanding has been signed by the two groups

Clean fuel specialist ITM Power (LON:ITM) is to build a solar hydrogen refuelling station (SHRS) at The Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) in East London.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed by the two groups, which will collaborate to make the CEME campus a major hub for fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) training and information

The site will include a FCEV maintenance training centre, a hydrogen fuel and FCEV research institute and become the base for ITM Power's hydrogen refuelling station (HRS) maintenance team in London.

It will also be home to initiatives such as a FCEV car club, a range of workshops and hydrogen electrolyser development work.

The station will open early this year and be part of the HyFive project funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, a private/public partnership.

Graham Cooley, ITM Power’s chief executive, said: "CEME is a world class organisation and we are delighted that they share ITM Power's vision to develop a hydrogen hub.

“We look forward to working with CEME toward this exciting common goal."

ITM Power currently has £11.5mln of projects under contract and a further £8.7m in the final stages of negotiation.
