Savannah Resources completes Oman drilling

The junior drilled 16 holes, assays for nine of which have already been received

--ADDS BROKER COMMENT AND SHARE PRICE--

Savannah Resources (LON:SAV) has completed its latest drill programme at Blocks 4 and 5 in Oman.

The junior drilled 16 holes, assays for nine of which have already been received and that intercepted good grades of copper, gold and silver.

Results from the other seven holes are expected by the end of the month.

David Archer, Savannah's chief executive said the results received so far pointed towards an expansion of the existing resource base of 1.5Mt at 2.1% copper in the two blocks.

The results support the strategy for high-grade, low cost copper production within 24 months with gold potential, he added.

Savannah can earn a 65% stake in Al Thuraya, the Omani company that owns the Block 4 licence, and has a 65% interest in Al Fairuz Mining, the holder of the Block 5 licence.

House broker Northland noted initial assays expanded and confirmed high-grade mineralisation and the presence of significant gold that could add further upside.

The final results from this drill programme remain on target by the end of January with a resource upgrade expected to follow in due course, it said.

Shares eased 1.56% to 1.575p.
