Royal Road Minerals’ (CVE:RYR) first saw-cut channel samples from the La Golondrina project in Colombia are encouraging, according to chief executive Dr Tim Coughlin.
The results from the first eleven saw-cut channels, designed to show the existence of a high-grade gold deposit, have now been returned to the company.
Sampling returned an average of 41.5 grams per ton of gold on a narrow width, with the best result being 106.5 g/t gold over 0.7 meters.
President and chief executive Coughlin said: “This is an encouraging first batch of sample results which confirms the high-grade nature of quartz vein hosted gold mineralization at La Golondrina.”
The results proved that gold mineralization extended beyond the boundaries of the host-rock into adjacent hornfels, he added.
Further saw-cut channel sampling is underway and will be useful for resource calculations and statistical analysis.
“The gold is generally coarse and probably amenable to commercial-scale recovery by gravimetric methods,” Coughlin said.
“We are currently working through IP-geophysical and ground magnetic data which has already revealed some interesting possible bulk tonnage targets considered worthy of drill testing.”
