Vimto sales ‘in line with expectations’ despite challenging UK trading

Trading in the UK has remained challenging, though international sales were stronger.

Vimto owner Nichols plc (LON:NICL) has reported revenue of £109.3mln for the year ended December 31, which is inline with management expectations.

The company said trading in the UK has remained challenging, though international sales were stronger with 1.5% growth. Export sales amounted to £24.4mln, up by £0.4mln.

UK sales totalled £84.9mln, down 0.3% from the prior year, although the company said the performance was ‘slightly ahead’ of the overall UK soft drinks market which had declined by 0.7%

The still version of Vimto outperform fizzy, with a 4% growth compared to a 7% decline.

Nichols, in a statement, said: “In summary, group 2015 sales performance is per our expectations and whilst the UK market remains challenging, our international business has continued to deliver good growth.

“We expect full year profit and earnings per share to be ahead of the prior year and in line with market expectations.”

Nichols, which also owns the Panda and Sunkist brands, said its preliminary results for 2015 are due on March 2.
