Drug developer e-Therapeutics (LON:ETX) has hired a life sciences specialist as non-executive chairman.
Iain Ross joined the company on Wednesday, with Professor Malcolm Young stepping down as chairman, though he will remain in his role as chief executive.
Ross has experience of mergers & acquisitions (M&A) transactions in Europe, USA and Pacific Rim.
He was previously the chief executive and chairman of Allergy Therapeutics (LON:AGY) and executive chairman of Silence Therapeutics (LON:SLN), where he agreed partnerships with pharma giants Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) and AstraZeneca (LON:AZN).
Chief executive Young, said: “His extensive experience further strengthens the company and will be invaluable as we move towards realising the potential of our discovery and development programmes.”
The group's discovery platform currently has 10 live projects, which will be whittled down for formal pre-clinical development early next year, with the most promising to enter clinical development in 2017.
Currently, there is a phase IIb clinical stage drug candidate for major depressive disorder, ETS6103; and a phase Ib clinical stage candidate in hepatocellular and pancreatic cancer, ETS2101.
