Diageo completes sale of wine businesses

Deal leaves company focused on spirits and Guinness

Diageo has sold US-based Chateau and Estate Wines and UK-based Percy Fox

Drinks group Diageo (LON:DGE) has completed the sale of its major wine interests, leaving it focused on spirits and beer.

The maker of Johnnie Walker whisky and Guinness said it had sold US-based Chateau and Estate Wines and UK-based Percy Fox to Treasury Wine Estates, as announced last October.

It is the latest deal in the drinks industry following the proposed mega-merger between Anheuser-Busch InBev and SABMiller (LON:SAB).
