Learning Tech. wins major Civil Service contract

“It is the most significant contract the group has ever won,” said the company

E-learning specialist Learning Technologies (LON:LTG) is to develop a new training platform for 400,000 civil servants, the largest contract it has won so far.

LTG won the three-year contract through its strategic alliance with accountancy firm KPMG and it will cover the entire UK civil service.

“It is the most significant contract the group has ever won,” it said.

The company already works for Civil Service Learning, but in partnership with KPMG and others it will help design and development a new teaching architecture that incorporates a combination of digital, informal and classroom components.

KPMG and the other groups will be responsible for other aspects of the contract including the delivery of face-to-face training.

Scoping of the contract starts this week and a significant upfront investment will be required by LTG to develop the core architecture and course components.

This will be incurred this year, 2015, and in the first half of next year, before the financial benefits starting to come through from the second half of 2016 onwards.

Jonathan Satchell, LTG’s chief executive said it was a “transformational” and underlined how the company was now able to deliver major scale strategic learning solutions to government and global corporate customers.

“This win has both affirmed and endorsed the strategy of acquiring LINE and combining it with Epic to create the UK leader in e-learning.

“We set out to build a business of scale which in short order would have revenues of £50m per annum. This high quality revenue stream marks another milestone in achieving this target."

Learning Technologies was formed in 2014 through the merger of e-learning business Epic and LINE Communications.

Shares rose 9% to 25p.
