Vehicle telematics group Trakm8 (LON:TRAK) has announced it has extended its relationship with breakdown recovery firm AA plc (LON:AA.).
Trakm8 highlights that it has supplied the AA for more than four years for their roadside assistance and recovery vehicles, and it has also worked with the blue-chip partner to develop a new business-to-business fleet management system.
The new product will now be offered to the AA's business-to-business customers. The system tracks vehicle data, including fuel consumption, driver behaviour and routes taken.
It aims to help manage both the cost and logistics of running fleets, Trakm8 highlighted, and it is expected to be attractive to large fleet operators and SMEs (with fleets of five or more vehicles).
"This is a substantial contract and an extremely interesting opportunity for Trakm8,” said executive chairman John Watkins.
“Working with the AA on this project we will substantially increase our understanding of remote vehicle service potential for fleets."
Meanwhile, AA strategy director Kirsty Lloyd-Jukes added: "We have worked with Trakm8 on our own vehicle fleet for some time and they have demonstrated great innovation and support for our business.
“This initiative for our fleet customers is an important part of the investment in connected car technology that we are developing.”
