Proactive news summary: ANGLE, Avation, Corero Network Security, European Metals, Forte Energy ...

Corero Network Security has passed a ‘significant milestone’ in its development by getting a tier-one ISP to take its SmartWall Threat Defense System

Corero Network Security (LON:CNS) has passed a ‘significant milestone’ in its development by getting a tier-one internet service provider to take its SmartWall Threat Defense System, which protects against cyber attack.

The identity of the new customer was not revealed; however, tier-one companies are generally the largest internet providers in a particular region and as such there are only a few of them around the world.

Elsewhere in the tech world, there has been a bit of toing-and-froing on the loans front.

ServicePower Technologies (LON:SVR) is to repay in full the unsecured short term loan from Herald Investment Trust it took out in July of this year.

The company revised its full-year revenue guidance, saying it is still hoping to close a number of licence deals before the year is out.

Cloud and mobile IT investment company Tern (LON:TERN), meanwhile, increased its investment in its subsidiary Cryptosoft.

Tern will invest a further £500,000 in the internet and machine-to-machine (M2M) security specialist by way of a loan facility for working capital as cash flow continues to increase.

Photo-Me International (LON:PHTM) enjoyed a strong first half, aided by its laundry operation, which saw a 90% increase in turnover.

Revenues for the six months ended October 31 were £98.7mln, up 2.4% on a constant currency basis, giving pre-tax profits of £27.7mln, up 9.3%.

Forte Energy (LON:FTE) expects to reveal a corporate transaction in the next week or so that will see a recapitalisation.

The company added that the deal would also see a change of business, out of the resources sector.

Another company that has gone through a change of business is Red Rock Resources.

Following the sale of almost half its holding In Australian associate Star Striker (ASX:SRT), Red Rock Resource’s (LON:RRR) chairman Andrew Bell has stepped down from its board.

Red Rock still holds around 4% in Star Striker, and Bell said: “Our active involvement now comes to an end, though we remain supportive shareholders."

Keeping with the theme, the medtech firm ANGLE (LON:AGL OTCQX:ANPCY) has been reclassified as a healthcare firm operating in the biotechnology subs-sector as part of a reorganisation by FTSE Russell, which compiles stocks indices.

The designation is more in keeping with a firm that has developed the Parsortix cell separation technology that can be used to take blood-based liquid biopsies to check for cancer.

In the minerals sector, SolGold’s (LON:SOLG) first assays from the latest hole at copper target Cascabel in Ecuador showed an intersection open-ended from a depth of just over 900 metres (m).

The first batch from Hole 13 indicated 376m of copper at a grade of 0.52% and 0.25 grams per tonne (g/t) gold between 926m and 1,302m.

Tungsten group Premier African Minerals (LON:PREM) has raised £112,500 from a single investor to provide more funds underground development work at its RHA mine in Zimbabwe.

The subscription was at 0.375p per shares compared to last night’s close of about 0.45p.

KEFI Minerals (LON:KEFI) is on course for first gold from Tulu Kapi in Ethiopia in late 2017, chairman Harry Adams confirmed to shareholders at its annual meeting.

Appointment of banks will be the next step, he said, for US$140mln of the expected US$176mln build costs, of which US$129mln is required upfront.

The remainder of the funds will come from a gold-stream facility where headline terms have already been agreed.

European Metals Holdings (LON:EMH), the owner of the Cinovec lithium deposit in the Czech Republic, has added an AIM listing to its existing quote in Australia.

Fellow AIM-listed company Rare Earth Minerals (LON:REM) owns a direct 11.87% share holding with its chief executive Kiran Morzaria to join the EMH board as a non-executive director.

Good news for Anglo Pacific Group (LON:APF, TSX:APY), which has a royalty interest in the Narrabri mine down under.

The operator of the mine, Whitehaven Coal, revealed that the New South Wales Government's Department of Planning and Environment has granted approval to increase annual production from 8 Mtpa (million tonnes per annum) to 11 Mtpa and to install a 400 metre wide long-wall face at the Narrabri Mine.

Versarien (LON:VRS) reported group revenue for the six months, to September 30, had been broadly maintained at £2.4mln, from £2.5mln in the same period of 2014, and it reported a £0.81mln loss for the period.

At the end of the financial period the company had net assets of £6.6mln, including £2.6mln of cash.

Independent Oil & Gas (LON:IOG) has told investors that a contract has now been signed with AGR Well Management for the planned Skipper appraisal well.

The well is expected to spud in late January or early February, the company confirmed.

AGR is to be paid partially in IOG shares and partially in cash.

Moving on to support services, Vietjet Air is set to lease four new Airbus A321 aircraft from Avation (LON:AVAP) next year, with the option for a fifth.

The mandate is subject to finalisation of the contract, and would cover a 12-year term.

Finally, drug developer Summit Therapeutics (NASDAQ:SMMT: LON:SUMM) is taking part in the JMP Securities Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) forum on December 14.

The day will focus on key themes and trends in DMD and feature discussions with publicly traded and privately held biopharmaceutical companies developing therapies.
