Focusrite sounds final dividend as trading meets expectations

Focusrite, the group which provides tech products to the music industry, enjoyed successful trading in its first year as a listed company and posted a 17% increase in revenue.

Focusrite (LON:TUNE), the group which provides tech products to the music industry, enjoyed successful trading in its first year as a listed company and posted a 17% increase in revenue.

The AIM firm also announced a first final dividend of 1.2p a share, taking the total payout for the year to 1.8p

Executive chairman Philip Dudderidge told investors: "This is the first set of annual results since Focusrite plc floated and I am pleased that we have performed well, meeting market expectations with record revenues and profits for the year.

"We issued 19 new products this year and we will continue to invest in our research and development programme to develop future generations of products."

It has two established brands - Focusrite and Novation. The first makes products for audio recorders, while Novation allows customers to create electronic music.

In the year to August 31, downloads of Novation's launchpad App for Apple's iOS platform grew by 87%, while revenue grew by 185%.

Notably, products launched at the end of the financial year have been well received with excellent reviews across the industry, the firm said.

Revenue in the first quarter of the current year was ahead of that for the 2015 year, itself a record quarter, in spite of slower than expected initial sales of new products, Focurite said.

Pre-tax profit was £6.4mln against £5.8mln in 2014, while revenue was £48mln versus £40.9mln previously. Basic earnings per share were 10.4p (2014: 10.3p).

Shares in the firm fell almost 18% to 156p.
