Biotech veteran Dr Mike Owen has been appointed as a non-executive director of ReNeuron Group (LON:RENE), the stem cell therapy specialist.
Dr Owen will chair the company's Scientific Advisory Board.
His career in biotech, the pharmaceutical industry and academia spans almost 40 years, ReNeuron said, and his past gigs include a senior vice presidency role in the Biopharmaceuticals Research division of GlaxoSmithKline, where he was responsible for the discovery and development of antibody drugs in multiple therapeutic areas through to successful clinical proof of concept.
He currently serves as a director of Zealand Pharma, Ossianix Inc, BliNK Biomedical SAS and Avacta plc and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Boards of Kymab Ltd and the CRT Pioneer Fund LP, and the investor advisory board of HS Lifesciences gmbh.
“As a consultant he has already provided much valuable input to the company's research and development programmes and this, together with his broad experience in progressing cutting edge research projects from the bench to the clinic, makes us confident that this appointment will lead to a significant further strengthening of our board," said John Berriman, chairman of ReNeuron.
