Tertiary Minerals upbeat on Swedish fluorspar application

Elsewhere, in Nevada, phase 4 drilling on the MB Project is expected to get underway next week.

Tertiary Minerals (LON:TYM) expects a positive decision ‘shortly’ on its application for a mining permit at the Storuman fluorspar project in Sweden.

Talks have been underway for 15 months with groups and utilities that will be affected by a mine at the site.

Six out of seven of these key stakeholders have now given their support, said Tertiary, including the local and regional councils.

The one objection has come from the Sami reindeer husbandry community, where it has failed to find a compromise that suits both parties.

Tertiary added the final decision for the permit now lies with the Swedish Mining Inspectorate, but given the majority support of the stakeholders it expects a positive decision.

Elsewhere, in Nevada, phase 4 drilling on the MB Project is expected to get underway next week.

Five holes are planned for a total of 1,800 metres to test the extent and depth of the recent discovery on the western area of the licence.

The last drill programme resulted in an upgrade to the resource at MB to 86.4 million tonnes grading 10.7% CaF2 (fluorspar).

Since then, the company has completed a 166 line-km ground magnetic survey.

Richard Clemmey, managing director, said despite the very challenging backdrop for junior miners it had made solid progress on both projects.
