Intellectual property (IP) specialist Tekcapital (LON:TEK) has received confirmation of its patent for its novel food baking technology.
Licensed from the University of Arkansas, the Crackle-baked process can make baked food taste like fried but reduces the fat content by 60%.
Tekcapital said the university had received a "Notice of Allowance" from the US Patent and Trademark Office, which in effect means its application has been successful.
The US patent will protect the tech behind Crackle-baked until 2030, which the company said allows plenty of time for it to be adopted widely through out-licensing to food producers.
Clifford Gross, executive chairman, said: "The receipt of the Notice of Allowance advances the potential commercialisation of Crackle-baked. We are actively engaged to secure an out-license partner."
