Michelmersh Brick Holdings scores well at industry awards show

The company won 'Best Refurbishment Project', 'Best Public & Education Building', 'Best Urban Regeneration Project' and the 'BDA Chairman's Award'.

Michelmersh Brick (LON:MBH) has picked up more than a quarter of the accolades on offer at this year's Brick Awards.

Representatives of the largest British-owned producer of bricks, clay pavers and tiles might have been discreetly popping the Alka Seltzer tablets into their mineral water this morning after last night's shindig at the Hilton, in London's Park Lane, as the company bagged four of the 15 accolades bestowed by the Brick Development Association.

The company won 'Best Refurbishment Project', 'Best Public & Education Building', 'Best Urban Regeneration Project' and the 'BDA Chairman's Award'.

The first two awards relate to Richmond Adult Community College, where new buildings have been designed to both complement and yet differentiate themselves from the Edwardian façade of the main building.

Few Londoners would argue for the need for urban regeneration at the Elephant & Castle, south of the Thames, and the Heygate Estate has been spruced up with a combination of Freshfield Lane Machine Made Danehill Yellow, Selected Light, First Quality and Anthracite bricks built by Lee Marley Brickwork Ltd.

“We are extremely proud to receive such recognition across a wide range of technical, craft and building categories,” said Frank Hanna, group commercial director of MBH.

“These recognised awards are testament to our work-force's commitment to maintaining our high standards of products, customer service and unrivalled attention to detail. All these attributes combine to make our bespoke products the choice materials of acclaimed and renowned architects across the UK," Hanna said.
