Plum Creek Timber Co (NYSE:PCL) jumped 17% to $47.13 after the private timberland owner agreed to be acquired by Weyerhaeuser (NYSE:WY), a real estate investment trust.

Marriott International (NASDAQ:MAR) fell 1.5% to $75.51 after the U.S.-based hotel chain struck a joint venture with Alitrip, the online travel booking platform owned by Alibaba.
Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A) skidded 1.2% to $200,715.00 after Warren Buffett's company reported quarterly profit doubled to a record high on an investment gain tied to its ownership stake in Kraft Heinz (NYSE:HNZ).
Hertz Global Holdings (NYSE:HTZ) slumped 11.9% to $16.57. The rental-car company reported a 59% surge in its third-quarter profit, but revenue fell short of expectations on currency headwinds.
Dish Network (NASDAQ:DISH) surrendered 1.6% to $62.75. The holding company reported quarterly revenue that fell short of market estimates as more subscribers dropped its pay-TV service and growth in its online streaming service Sling TV showed signs of faltering.
Priceline Group (NASDAQ:PCLN) sank 9.3% to $1,315.35 due to a cautious forecast. The online travel site operator earned $25.35 per share for the quarter, above estimates of $24.23. Revenue was also above forecasts, helped by record hotel room bookings.
Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) dropped 1.3% to $28.07. Cisco announced a strategic partnership with Sweden's Ericsson that focuses on developing next-generation networks. The partnership could generate $1bn for each partner by 2018.
