Ralph Lauren (NYSE:RL) jumped 15% to $131.22. The apparel company posted better-than-expected earnings and revenue, buoyed by its recent restructuring and growth overseas.
GoDaddy (NYSE:GDDY) climbed 13% to $31.01 after a jump in international revenue helped the web hosting company post a narrower-than-estimated loss in the third quarter.
Expedia (NASDAQ:EXPE) rose 4.2% to $139.74. The world's largest online travel agency by bookings agreed to buy vacation rental site HomeAway (NASDAQ:AWAY) for about $3.9bn in cash and stock.
FALLERS
Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) sank 13% to $52.23. The company whose chips power most of the world's smartphones said earnings fell 44% in the fourth fiscal quarter. Struggles in the company's patent licensing business overshadowed positive signs in sales of smartphone chips. The San Diego, California-based company also forecast lower profit than Wall Street expected for the current quarter.
MetLife (NYSE:MET) fell 2.3% to $49.32 after the largest U.S. life insurer said third-quarter profit tumbled 43% due to deteriorated investment results and higher tax costs.
Whole Foods (NASDAQ:WFM) skidded 5.2% to $29.15 as sales growth slowed sharply in the latest quarter. The upscale grocer has also issued a tepid outlook for the current fiscal year.
SeaWorld Entertainment (NYSE:SEAS) dropped 8.8% to $17.80 after park closures and increased costs prompted the embattled theme-park operator to report weaker-than-estimated profit and sales for its third quarter.
Molson Coors Brewing (NYSE:TAP) was flat at $87.42. The world's largest beer company posted better-than-expected third-quarter profit, buoyed by solid demand for its higher-margin brands.
