Wednesday's Agenda: Can Provident keep growth going?

Provident Financial reports on Friday, with investors keen to see if it can continue to deliver strong earnings growth

Provident Financial reports on Friday, with investors keen to see if it can continue to deliver strong earnings growth from Vanquis and new initiatives such as Satsuma and Moneybarn

The Home Credit business, which has been repositioned, will also be worth noting.

JP Morgan said: “We believe the combination results in an attractive total shareholder return, with low double-digit EPS growth together with an attractive dividend yield.”

The broker added that it does not see any earnings impact from the wider market correction given Providence’s domestic UK focus.

In its half-year results, underlying earnings [EBITDA] was US$50mln lower than expected, with the company blaming slowing demand in China.

One area the company was making progress on was cost-cutting, and investors may get behind the firm if it can prove this has continued into the third quarter.

Significant announcements expected:

Trading statement: Record (LON:REC), Provident Financial (LON:PFG), Evraz (LON:EVR).

Economic: EU – CPI, Balance of trade, New car registrations, US – Industrial production,
