A number of tech and mining companies had news out today

Technology was at the fore today as email specialist dotDigital (LON:DOTD) saw profits and revenues surge as new corporate customers signed up and its US operation started to contribute significantly.

Revenues rose by 33% to £21.4mln in the year to June, while pre-tax profits were 45% ahead at £5.2mln. Shareholders also get an 80% increase in the final dividend at 0.36p.

Elsewhere, defence technology group Cohort (LON:CHRT) has won a deal worth more than £3mln to provide electronic warfare operational support services.

Gfinity (LON:GFIN), the eSports group, revealed that the successful event had exceeded the original target of 50mln online views, with some 58.5mln online views of the 2015 Gfinity Championship series.

Meanwhile, tech investor Tern’s (LON:TERN) Cryptosoft arm has signed a strategic partnership with cyber security specialist Device Authority.

Turning to mining – where Firestone Diamonds (LON:FDI) has agreed to extend the closing date of its disposal of its Botswana diamond operations to give purchaser Tango Mining (CVE:TGV) more time to raise the money.

Sticking with diamonds, DiamondCorp (LON:DCP) has commissioned the underground conveyor belt at its lace mine in South Africa.

Elsewhere in the sector, South African gold miner Pan African Resources (LON:PAF) has agreed a wage settlement for the next three years from with the unions at its two mines, Evander and Barberton.

Kefi Minerals (LON:KEFI) has appointed Sedgeman Ltd as its preferred plant and start-up contractor for the construction of the Tulu Kapi gold mine in Ethiopia.

Gold, silver and antimony miner Mandalay Resources (TSX:MND) had a mixed quarter but remains on track for the full year just about.

Weatherly International (LON:WTI) said the ramp up of the Tschudi mine’s production remains ahead of plan.

Galantas’s (LON:GAL) plans to go mining underground at its Omagh gold mine in Northern Ireland received a big boost earlier this year when serial mining investor Ross Beaty took a near-15% stake.

In energy news, Active Energy Group (LON:AEG) said it has finalised the installation and testing of a new high-volume hardwood production line at the Yuzhny Port facility in Ukraine.

The chipper is expected to significantly boost output from Yuzhny. The addition of a new softwood line in the first quarter of next year will take the operation to full capacity.

Nordic Energy (NORP) has revealed that it is withdrawing an application to expand its footprint in Denmark so that it can focus resources on existing assets.

Primeline Energy (CVE:PEH) has told investors that the China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) has extended the first phase of the group’s exploration period for six month to the end of April 2016.

Empyrean Energy (LON:EME) has revealed an independent upgrade of its reserves volumes at the Sugarloaf project, in the Eagle Ford play, Texas.

To pharma - and Ergomed (LON:ERGO) said a drug it is helping develop for sickle-cell disease (SCD) is moving into phase II clinical trials.

SCD a severe hereditary form of anaemia, though this proof of concept study will be used to treat patients with vaso-occlusive crisis (VOC), a painful, but common complication.

Motif Bio (LON:MTFB) posted results of two iclaprim clinical studies at in San Diego last week.

Iclaprim, a new antibiotic Motif is developing, is set to start two new Phase III clinical trials to treat acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections.

In other news, Recruiter Empresaria (LON:EMR) has agreed a US$12.1mln deal to buy US-based Pharmaceutical Strategies.

The specialist recruitment firm, which focuses on the US healthcare market, is profitable and cash generating, and should be immediately earnings enhancing, Empresaria said.
