AFC Energy (LON:AFC) has passed its tenth milestone at the KORE alkaline fuel cell by commencing temporary operation of an entire tier of eight fuel cell cartridges.
The KORE system, at Stade in Germany, achieved a maximum output from one tier of just over 40kWe.
The cartridges used will now test the second and third tiers of the system in the coming weeks.
Each tier within the KORE fuel cell system is capable of operating independently.
The final milestone of 240kWe is scheduled to be completed in December, when full commissioning will also take place.
Adam Bond, AFC's chief executive said: "We are edging increasingly closer to delivery of a commercial scale fuel cell system capable of deployment across a range of markets we are focusing on.
“The announcement today should provide confidence and strong support to our ability to reach these goals".
