Below are the main news driven share price changes at 1:35 p.m. in New York on Friday:

RISERS

Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) gained 4.7% to $15.48 after the memory chipmaker reported a lower-than-expected decline in its quarterly revenue.

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) rose 2.9% to $1.79. The struggling chipmaker said it would eliminate about 500 jobs, or 5% of its global workforce.

J.C. Penney (NYSE:JCP) gained 5.6% to $9.79 after the U.S. department-store chain said it will trim its $5bn pension obligation up to about a third.

Novartis (NYSE:NVS) rose 0.7% to $92.53, reversing an earlier loss. The drug maker received FDA approval for a biosimilar copy of Amgen's best-swelling Enbrel rheumatoid arthritis drug.

Nordstrom (NYSE:JWN) climbed 4% to $74.30, erasing an earlier loss. The specialty retailer announced a special dividend of $4.85 per share and unveiled a new $1bn share buyback program.

FALLERS

United Continental Holdings (NYSE:UAL) fell 2.5% to $51.67 after the company's newly installed chief executive officer declared in a public letter that the combined company has failed to live up to the expectations of both fliers and employees.
