RISERS
Adobe Systems (NASDAQ:ADBE) rose 3.1% to $82.77, reversing an earlier loss. The largest developer of graphic-design software reported strong rise in Creative Cloud software subscriptions in the past quarter. However, it provided downbeat outlook for the current quarter.
Texas Instruments (NASDAQ:TXN) edged up 0.7% to $48.49. The largest maker of analog chips said it will lift its quarterly cash dividend by 12%, to $0.38 per share starting the November dividend, and unveiled a plan to buy back an additional $7.5bn of its common stock.
AK Steel Holding (NYSE:AKS) rose 0.5% to $2.83 after the steel manufacturer issued an earnings outlook for the third quarter that beat expectations.
FALLERS
Freeport-McMoRan (NYSE:FCX) tumbled 8.6% to $11.02. The mining major has now raised $1bn from a previously announced share offering.
Equifax (NYSE:EFX) fell 0.4% to $97.96 as the US consumer-credit reporting agency confirmed it is pitching a takeover bid for Veda Group (ASX:VED), one of Australia’s largest credit-reference providers, at about A$2.28bn ($1.64bn).
Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) fell 0.4% to $54.78. The smartphone chipmaker is cutting more than 1,300 full-time jobs in San Diego and has slashed hundreds more in other states. Shares dropped in premarket trade.
