U.S. Risers/Fallers: XenoPort, Fiat Chrysler, GE, Fresh Market, Alcoa, Penn West, Kellogg

Here's a look at the main movers as of 2:26 p.m. in New York on Tuesday:

RISERS

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (NYSE:FCAU) rose 3% to $14.76 as the Detroit carmaker continues negotiations with the United Auto Workers over a new four-year agreement after the two sides extended their current contract on an hour-by-hour basis.

General Electric (NYSE:GE) gained 2% to $25.26 after saying it will move around 500 U.S. jobs overseas to avoid losing business to foreign competitors.

Fresh Market (NASDAQ:TFM) rose 4.4% to $24.21 in midday trade after the specialty grocery retailer was raised at Jefferies, which pointed to an "unsustainably low valuation" and optimism over the new chief executive officer.

Alcoa (NYSE:AA) rose 2.4% to $9.60 after the largest U.S. aluminum producer reached a new supply deal with Ford Motor (NYSE:F), the second-largest U.S. automaker.

Kellogg Co (NYSE:K) fluctuated and was last up 0.9% at $66.66. The breakfast cereal giant has furthered its African ambitions - by buying a 50% stake in Multipro, a sales and distribution company in Nigeria and Ghana, for $450mln.

FALLERS

XenoPort (NASDAQ:XNPT) plunged 26% to $4.95 even as the biopharmaceutical company unveiled positive results from a Phase 2 trial of its treatment for psoriasis, a type of chronic inflammatory disease of the skin.

Penn West Petroleum (NYSE:PWE) wavered and was last down 3% at $0.526 after the Canadian senior oil producer said it would sell its assets in Mitsue in Central Alberta for $192.5mln in cash to cut debt.
