Acadia Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ACAD) rose 5% to $39.97 after the drug maker submitted a drug for approval with the FDA and it appointed a new chief executive officer.
Campbell Soup (NYSE:CPB) fluctuated between gains and losses and was last up1.2% at $48.33. The largest soup maker in the U.S. reported lower earnings in its most recent quarter, but provided full-year guidance that surpassed Wall Street expectations.
Costco (NASDAQ:COST) was up 0.2% at $140.69 as the world's largest wholesale club reported a significant 7% rise in same-store sales for the most recently ended fiscal year.
Lannett (NYSE:LCI) surged 15.3% to $57.04 after the developer of generic versions of branded pharmaceutical products agreed to buy Kremers Urban Pharmaceuticals, a U.S. unit of Belgian drugmaker UCB SA (EBR:UCB), for $1.23bn.
FALLERS
Joy Global (NYSE:JOY) tumbled 15.6% to $18.68 after the mining equipment maker reported a 37% slump in fiscal third-quarter profit, and it lowered its full-year guidance, due to weak demand for coal.
Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) fell 1.1% to $70.69, erasing an earlier gain. The world’s biggest maker of heart-rhythm devices reported better-than-expected adjusted earnings in its fiscal first quarter, buoyed by its recent acquisition of Covidien PLC.
Five Below (NASDAQ:FIVE) dived 9.4% to $34.45 after the specialty retailer gave muted guidance for the current quarter, as earnings fell and sales for the August period came in at the low end of projections.
