U.S. Risers/Fallers: Acadia, Campbell Soup, Costco, Joy Global, Medtronic, Five Below

Here's a look at the main movers in New York at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday:

RISERS

Acadia Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ACAD) rose 7.8% to $41.06 after the drug maker submitted a drug for approval with the FDA and it appointed a new chief executive officer.

Campbell Soup (NYSE:CPB) fluctuated between gains and losses and was last up 0.5% at $48.00. The largest soup maker in the U.S. reported lower earnings in its most recent quarter, but provided full-year guidance that surpassed Wall Street expectations.

Costco (NASDAQ:COST) was up 0.4% at $140.91 as the world's largest wholesale club reported a significant 7% rise in same-store sales for the most recently ended fiscal year.

FALLERS

Joy Global (NYSE:JOY) tumbled 14.9% to $18.83 after the mining equipment maker reported a 37% slump in fiscal third-quarter profit, and it lowered its full-year guidance, due to weak demand for coal.

Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) fell 0.1% to $71.48, erasing an earlier gain. The world’s biggest maker of heart-rhythm devices reported better-than-expected adjusted earnings in its fiscal first quarter, buoyed by its recent acquisition of Covidien PLC.

Five Below (NASDAQ:FIVE) dived 8% to $34.95 after the specialty retailer gave muted guidance for the current quarter, as earnings fell and sales for the August period came in at the low end of projections.
