RISERS
Amicus Therapeutics (NASDAQ:FOLD) slid 1.3% to $14.68, reversing an earlier gain. The biotechnology company agreed to buy privately-held Scioderm, which specializes in treatments for rare diseases, in a $229mln cash-and-stock deal.
Bristol-Myers (NYSE:BMY) fell 1.3% to $59.80, erasing an earlier gan. The drugmaker has been granted the exclusive right to buy privately-held Promedior Inc. and its experimental fibrosis treatment for up to $1.25bn.
Blyth (NYSE:BTH) more than doubled to $5.95. Candle-and-home-fragrance company Blyth said it would be acquired by investment firm Carlyle Group LP for $98mln, a 105% premium to Friday’s closing price. Carlyle fell 2.6% to $21.34.
Staples (NASDAQ:SPLS) gained 3.1% to $14.16, and Office Depot (NASDAQ:ODP) added 1.3% to $7.92. The office supplies retailers said late Friday they will delay the closing of their merger in order to provide the Federal Trade Commission with more information on the deal.
J. C. Penney (NYSE:JCP) rose 2.5% to $9.16 after Deutsche Bank raised the U.S. department-store chain to "buy" from "hold".
FALLERS
Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) fell 2% to $115.30. The provider of Internet television network is ending its deal with pay-TV channel Epix. The move will let some major films shift to Hulu.
Clorox (NYSE:CLX) slid 0.7% to $110.86. The consumer products company said it has adopted a so-called proxy-access policy allowing certain shareholders to nominate members to its board.
