U.S. Risers/Fallers: Analog Devices, Palatin Technologies, Target, Lowe’s, Yum Brands, Staples

Here's a first look at the main movers in early deals in New York on Wednesday:

RISERS

Analog Devices (NASDAQ:ADI) jumped 2.2% to $59.15, a day after the maker of semiconductors used in wireless-phone system reported a third-quarter profit and guided for fourth-quarter revenue above market expectations.

Palatin Technologies (NYSEMKT:PTN) rose 9.6% to $1.03 after a drug by peer Sprout Pharmaceuticals Inc. became the first to win U.S. approval to treat a female sexual desire disorder.

Target (NYSE:TGT) gained 0.6% to $80.63. The Minneapolis, Minnesota-based company raised its earnings outlook for the year on the back of better-than-expected second quarter profits.

Lowe’s (NYSE:LOW) inched up 0.2% to $73.17. The home improvement chain saw sales and earnings rise year-on-year in the three months to the end of July.

Yum Brands (NYSE:YUM) added 2.4% to $86.24. The fast food restaurants operator replaced the head of its China division as it seeks to reverse a sales decline there.

FALLERS

Staples (NASDAQ:SPLS) decreased 1.8% to $13.91 after the world's largest office-supply chain reported profit more than halved in its fiscal second quarter store traffic continued to dwindle.
