Video streaming titan Netflix's (NASDAQ:NFLX) subscription service is considerably more popular in the US than its rivals, broker research indicates.
A survey by broker Raymond James found 61% of respondents use Netflix, famed for productions such as the US reboot of "House of Cards", whereas only 37% use Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), 19% use Apple's iTunes (NASDAQ:AAPL) and another 19% use Hulu.
The broker responded to the results of the survey by bumping up its price target for Netflix from US$120 to US$140.
Shares in Netflix currently trade at US$124.20, barely changed on the day.
Raymond James analyst Justin Patterson said his confidence in the company was boosted by its improving content library. The company, valued at around US$53bn, plans to spend about US$6bn on content in 2016.
It has around 40mln subscribers in the US, many of them new to pay-TV subscription services.
