RISERS

Sovereign Mines of Africa (LON:SMA) up 70%. Shares dropped on the news it is to undertake a fundraise, but investors ploughed back in as the exclusivity period of an agreement with a major third party (with a view to said party partnering on the development of the flagship Mandiana-Magana project) is set to run out in early October.

Findel (LON:FDL) up 13.7%. Sports Direct, the FTSE 100-listed sports run by Mike Ashley, has acquired a stake of 18.93% in the company.

FALLERS

Alexander Mining (LON:AXM) down 13%. Interim pre-tax losses widened to £485,000 from £439,000 as it tries to sell mining equipment in a period of low commodity prices.

China Nonferrous Gold (LON:CNG) down 12.4%. Expenditure on the Pakrut gold project more than doubled to US$29.6mln from US$11.3mln last year as it readies for production next month.

Cyan Holdings (LON:CYAN) down 8.1%. First half pre-tax losses widened to £2.3mln from £1.1mln the year before as it ramps up spending to try and win new customers.

RISERS

Zoltav Resources (LON:ZOL) up 9.3%. The company generated higher revenues in the first half of the year as it moves from an oil and gas developer to a producer.

Premier Technical Services Group (LON:PTSG) up 8.5%. Underlying profit rose to £2.3mln from £2mln, once the costs related to its London float were stripped away, on higher sales adding it would pay a maiden interim dividend.

Roxi Petroleum (LON:RXP) up 5.8%. The company made a US$18.7mln profit in the first half, largely from the sale of its 58% stake in the Galaz contract area. It was still below the previous year, which was skewed by the reversal of a US$25mln impairment.

FALLERS

Nyota Minerals (LON:NYO) down 26%. The company retreated from a prospective gold project, pulled out from its Ethiopian licences, and invested in an Italian nickel project which is still a long way from completion in the first half.

Panmure Gordon (LON:PMR) down 19.7%. The broker swung to a pre-tax loss of £230,000 in the first half of the year as commissions and fees dropped 20% due to tough market conditions.

Pathfinder Minerals (LON:PFP) down 18.5%. Pre-tax first half lossews widened to £700,000 from £600,000 on zero revenue as it continue to try and recover its assets in Mozambique.

Alecto Minerals (LON:ALO) up 37%. The company’s scoping study suggested production of 27,000 ounces of gold for three years at a cost of US$582 per ounce (totalling US$97.5mln) could be feasible on its permits Gourbassi East and Gourbassi West within Alecto's Farikounda Gold permit when combined with the Kossanto East Gold Project and Barani East within Desert Gold's Farabantourou Gold permit.

Verona Pharma (LON:VRP) up 9.8%. The company secured positive data from the study on its RPL554 candidate for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Globo (LON:GBO) up 5.5%. The mobile business organiser software group reported another strong half for sales, profits and user growth. Revenue in the half year to June rose 56% to €72.4mln (€46.5mln), while profits rose by 37% to €34.2mln.

FALLERS

Mirada (LON:MIRA) down 24.7%. The next phase of a contract roll-out with South American media group Televisa delayed by a few months.The AIM-listed group has picked up additional development work with Televisa, but even with this, earnings this year will be well below market expectations, though ahead of last year.

Wolseley (LON:WOS) down 10%. The builder’s merchant said markets in North America, which account for about 76% of profit, were challenging in the fourth quarter and it expected that to continue.

Iofina (LON:IOF) down 6.4%. The firm dropped despite reducing losses and record production in its interim results as it was hit by lower iodine prices.
