Researchers in Austria published more “highly encouraging” results based on their work with med-tech firm ANGLE’s (LON:AGL) Parsortix device, which captures cancer cells found in the bloodstream.

It was a big development in the small cap pharma space, which also saw Collagen Solutions (LON:COS) ink another supply deal with Turkish medical device group Yucel.

In the mining sector, Philippines gold miner Metals Exploration (LON:MTL) announced the terms of an open offer to provide additional funds while it waits for regulatory approval to switch on its Runruno mine.

Shareholders can apply for 100 new shares for every 255 at 3p.Investors that took part in a recent US$5mln (£3.2mln) subscription will not take part.

Discussions over a US$5mln loan have also advanced to the documentation stage with the three substantial shareholders of the company, Metals Exploration said.

Elsewhere, KEFI Minerals (LON:KEFI) delivered some significant news on the funding of the flagship Tulu Kapi gold project in Ethiopia that should significantly lessen the financial burden on shareholders.

Goldplat (LON:GDP) expects a substantial improvement in its performance in the current year after the gold recovery specialist returned to profit in its latest six months.

Meanwhile, African Potash (LON:AFPO) teed up a fourth fertiliser contract under its agreement with the African co-operative group Comesa and secured a source of supply for its first deal.

Horizonte Minerals (LON:HZM, TSE:HZM) will significantly improve the scale and economic viability of its plans for the development of a major nickel project in Brazil, following the acquisition of sizeable additional resources from Glencore (LON:GLEN).

In Energy news, the final results from Berkeley Energy’s (LON:BKY) recently completed drilling programme at its Zona 7 project in Spain have delivered very encouraging results in terms of uranium grade.

Rose Petroleum (LON:ROSE) believes it is now well-positioned to maintain its existing assets, amid current low oil prices.

Ithaca Energy (LON:IAE) incentivised contractor Petrofac (LON:PFC) for a timely completion of the floating production facility (FPF) for the Stella project.

Magnolia Petroleum (LON:MAGP) saw “excellent progress” on the ground in the first six months of 2015, says chief executive Steven Snead.

Union Jack Oil’s (LON:UJO) executive chairman David Bramhill highlighted that the company has achieved a number of important milestones – despite weakness in the sector and low oil prices – and has at the same time retained a strong balance sheet.

Sound Oil (LON:SOU) announced a number of boardroom changes which include the appointments of Richard Liddell and Stephen Whyte as directors.

Speaking of board changes, Kromek (LON:KMK) appointed industry veteran and former government advisor Sir Peter Williams CBE as its chairman.

In the air space, Plane leasing group Avation (LON:AVAP) said Takeoff Asset Management, a company associated with executive chairman Jeff Chatfield, had bought 250,000 Aviation Capital 2020 notes, which carry a 7.5% coupon. The notes were priced at 97.25p each.

Meanwhile, no-frills carrier fastjet (LON:FJET) cautioned weak African currencies and commodities will affect its second half despite revenues soaring and the size of its fleet doubling to six planes.

In tech news, accesso (LON:ACSO), the virtual queuing and tech specialist, announced eight new contract wins in the USA from across the leisure sector.

Elsewhere, Teathers Financial (LON:TEA) launched a new crowdfunding app that will enable private investors to participate in private placings and IPOs.

Internet of things (IoT) and M2M security specialist Cryptosoft has released a new version of its software and has a new website, said Tern (LON:TERN), the investment firm, which owns 95%.

Milestone Group (LON:MSG), the media and tech group, said its joint venture Nexstar had launched it digital delivery platform - Backstage HD.

In other news, Indian renewable power generator Mytrah Energy (LON:MYT) commissioned the first phase of a wind farm in Bhesada, Rajasthan ahead of plan.

Finally, Amedeo Resources (LON:AMED) said the first order for a mobile jack-up drilling rig remains on schedule to be completed by the end of this year.
