Tuesday's agenda: Wolseley to highlight strength of US economy

Wolseley and Boohoo.com lead the companies reporting on Tuesday...

Tuesday sees plumbers' merchant Wolseley reporting its full-year results, where the company is still likely to be enjoying the benefits of a growing US economy.

“Strength in the US dollar is likely to provide the numbers with a favourable tailwind, whilst further on-going bolt-on acquisitions could be announced,” Hargreaves Lansdown reckons.

Group revenue is forecast to edge around 2% higher to £13.36 billion, while trading profit is expected to have grown by over 13% to £865 million, the broker notes.

Meanwhile, Boohoo.com should the show benefits from its more focused and targeted marketing approach following a strong first quarter in UK sales.

Investec said the UK sales, which represent 67% of full-year sales, should continue to be strong “with a less direct promotional stance and lack of formal sale indicative of underlying trading strength.”

Don’t expect a dividend, with the broker noting management has been clear that any profit benefits from sales outperformance are likely to be reinvested into the top line and proposition
