Versarien (LON:VRS), the engineering materials specialist, has been invited to a high profile conference in San Francisco, which offers it the chance to expand into the USA.
The three-day "Startup Europe Comes to Silicon Valley" conference and sees Silicon Valley investors, entrepreneurs and EU policy makers, rubbing shoulders with high growth firms and exchanging ideas.
Attendees will also be taken to the offices of tech giants Google and Apple to spend time pitching their businesses to some of the most influential investors in Silicon Valley.
Versarien's chief executive Neill Ricketts said: "It is an honour to have been invited to participate in the Startup Europe Comes to Silicon Valley programme, especially when there has only been one other UK company invited and 12 from Europe as a whole.
"It is these sorts of events that really help companies like Versarien develop as an international player.
"It is a direct invitation to talk to Silicon Valley investors, a fantastic opportunity considering that we see the US becoming another key market for us, following on from the granting of our patent in the USA."
Earlier this month, the company said it had been granted US patent protection for its volume graphene platelet production process.
It adds to existing patent protection for the graphene production process that had already been granted in Europe.
Versarien told investors it expects North America to become a key graphene market and therefore patent protection is an important step for the company.
