Savannah Resources unearths more high grades at Salahi

“The exploration team will continue to sample and conduct geological mapping of the project area in order to determine the most prospective targets for drilling."

Savannah Resources (LON:SAV) has unearthed more high grade gold mineralisation at the Salahi 1 prospect, within Block 4, Oman.

The company says field work, following up previous sampling and mapping, has increased the gold potential of Block 4. Grab samples contained grades of up to 13.9 grams per tonne. Trenching included 12 metres of mineralisation at 11.87 grams per tonne.

Specifically, it told investors that high grade mineralisation has been identified between the Salahi Main Gossan and Salahi North Prospects.

“With grades of up to 13.9g/t gold returned from this recent campaign, we remain confident that Block 4 has the potential to host significant gold mineralisation,” said chief executive David Archer.

Anomalous gold results have been identified over a one kilometre strike, with widths up to 26 metres. This remains open to the north and south, the company said, adding that this provides significant further upside potential.

Further sampling is now underway as a precursor to drilling, which will aim to define the strike and depth of the mineralisation.

Archer said: “The exploration team will continue to sample and conduct geological mapping of the project area in order to determine the most prospective targets for drilling.

“Importantly, Block 4 is prospective for both gold and copper, so in conjunction with our gold exploration activity, we continue to define the licence's outstanding copper potential.”

He added that Block 4 and the company’s broader Omani portfolio represents a strategic investment opportunity.
