The saga surrounding the future of New World Oil & Gas (LON:NEW) has taken another twist as rebel investors proposed a team to take it in a different direction.
The rebels, represented by lobby group NWOGaction, are backing the nomination of three directors to the board at the company's forthcoming annual meeting.
It was the most surprising piece of news today, which also saw European copper mining group EMED (TSE:EMD, LON:EMED) unveil plans to re-brand under the new corporate banner of Atalaya Mining Plc.
In other mining news, after a short summer break, exploration drilling is set to resume at the Logrosán gold and tungsten project in Extremadura, Spain, held in joint venture between Metal Tiger (LON:MTL) and UK-based special purpose vehicle Logrosán Minerals.
Elsewhere, Sula Iron & Gold (LON:SULA) has identified another potential source of iron ore at its Ferensola project in northern Sierra Leone.

Mirada worked with Telefonica to scope and design the new interface, Movistar+, which was based on the Aim-listed group’s flagship product, inspire UI, and its functionality.
Meanwhile, African Potash (LON:AFPO) has appointed Loita Capital as the lead arranger for a US$50mln finance facility to underpin its trading agreement with Comesa/Actesa.
Comesa is a free trade union of twenty African countries with Actesa its business agency.
Cloudbuy (LON:BUY), an operator of online marketplaces around the world, is confident on progress and a growing pipeline of opportunities, it told investors in half year results to end June.
ECR Minerals (LON:ECR) issued 94mln hares at 0.05p per share to pay US$85,000 off of its convertible loan facility with YA Global Master SPV. The remaining balance is US$750,000.
Similarly, URU Metals (LON:URU) issued RB Milestone 656,142 shares for services rendered, and retained the New York-based equity research and market intelligence firm as a financial communications adviser.
