Below are some of the major news-driven share price changes of the day.

RISERS

Auhua Clean Energy (LON:ACE), up 30%. The company said it is aware of speculation regarding a potential takeover and said it has not received an approach.

W Resources (LON:WRES), up 11.4%. The shares are up almost 50% over the last week, and were still going strong today, which should please Charles Scott, who topped up his shareholding earlier this week, lifting his stake to 3.15% of the company.

Tullow Oil (LON:TLW), up 8.8%. Oil prices built on Thursday’s massive 10% price surge today with Brent Crude gaining 2.5% to US$48.79 while West Texas Intermediate rose 3.4% to US$44.

FALLERS

Cathay International Holdings (LON:CTI), down 10.1%. The investor in China’s healthcare sector posted a net loss for the first half of the year of US$4.3mln, versus a profit the year before of US$0.2mln.

Jimmy Choo (LON:CHOO), down 5.8%. The trendy footwear designer got a shoeing today after interim results disappointed, with half-year earnings per share broadly flat at 3.0p.

Huntsworth (LON:HNT), down 5.2%. The healthcare communications and public relations group saw like-for-like revenue in the first half of the year decline 0.7%.

RISERS

Bacanora Minerals (LON:BCN) up 24.2%. Bacanora and Rare Earth signed a deal with electronic car maker Tesla Motors. The US-based group will buy lithium hydroxide from the Sonora lithium project in Northern Mexico to feed the batteries of its Gigafactory in Nevada.

Rare Earth Minerals (LON:REM) up 15.2%. See above.

Independent Oil & Gas (LON:IOG) up 9.27%. The company secured extensions to a number of key agreements which allows it to pursue a new ‘contractor led’ funding approach for its North Sea field development plans.

FALLERS

MBL Group (LON:MUBL) down 9.24%. The company reporter wider pre-tax losses in its full-year results to £900,000 from £500,000 after an impairment charge, but sales grew 10%.

Debenhams (LON:DEB), down 7.1%. The department store operator was downgraded to ‘Sell’ from ‘Neutral’ by UBS.

RISERS

Minera IRL (LON:MIRL) up 62.29%. The company strengthened its depleted board with the appointment of a new director, Jaime Pinto. At its annual general meeting, the proposal to re-elect chairman Daryl Hodges as a director was not approved, leaving the company with just two directors.

LGO Energy (LON:LGO) up 13.33%. The company announced that production testing is now underway on two wells in the Goudron Field in Trinidad. GY-676 and GY-677 are the second and third wells drilled on Pad-5.

Jubilant Energy (LON:JUB) up 11.6%. The oil and gas minnow secured a funding deal with Vernons Financial to receive a £13.5mln through an unsecured loan.

FALLERS

Motive Television (LON:MTV) down 18%. Investment in the long term future of the company meant, as is to be expected from a growth company, losses nudged higher in the first half of this year.

Candover Investments (LON:CDI) down 10.13%. Its net assets per share plummeted 32.1% or 175p per share during the first half of the year, compared with a 3% gain for the FTSE All-Share.

Huntsworth (LON:HNT) down 8.2%. Heavy impairment and restructuring costs led the company to swing to a £45.9mln pre-tax loss in its first half of the year from a profit of £6.3mln in the same period the year before.
