Car parts maker Surface Transforms (LON:SCE) has passed a milestone in its drive to supply its products to major car makers.
After rigorous testing, the group has received an automotive industry standard quality certification for its equipment.
The company, which makes car brakes, has completed successful product testing with a major tier one international brake manufacturer and has achieved the vehicle manufacturer's requirements.
It gained a TS16949 certificate, a prerequisite standard to supply into the mainstream automotive market.
Kevin Johnson, chief executive, said: “We are delighted with achieving TS 16949 certification which further strengthens the company's business processes.
“We are also excited and pleased with the customer feedback.”
Surface has also progressed through an audit process with a premium German car manufacturer and the customer has now entered the product validation phase of the programme, the company said.
It stressed the adoption schedules of its products are difficult to predict, but remains confident of updating the market before the end of the year.
Surface is also working on three more automotive “game changing programmes” which have had no technical issues but are taking longer than expected to complete.
Shares were 18.5% higher to 15.85p.
