Sunrise Resources cues up drill rigs for Bay State

Sunrise Resources has signed a drilling contract with Boart Longyear and expects the rigs to start turning next week

Sunrise Resources (LON:SRES) will start drilling on its Bay State silver project in Nevada next week, after it signed a contract with Boart Longyear to undertake the work.

Given that access to the drilling sites has already been secured and drill pads put in place, the drilling itself is scheduled to start first thing Monday 24th August.

The plan is to drill three holes to test for mineralisation beneath existing workings at the Chihuahua vein system.

One drill hole will specifically target an area which recently yielded bonanza silver grades in underground sampling.

The first results should be available in around eight weeks time, always allowing that the laboratory is not backed up with work.

Sunrise’s executive chairman Patrick Cheetham highlighted that this round of drilling is in a sense scout drilling.

“This is the first modern exploration programme on the Chihuahua vein system and we anticipate this initial drill programme will provide valuable grade and geological information and pave the way for more substantial programmes of drilling aimed at resource definition,” he said.

Bay State was first worked for silver back in the 1870s, but hasn’t seen any substantial working since the early 1900s.

Sunrise acquired the property in 2014.
