Shares in United Oil & Gas PLC (AIM:UOG, FRA:1UO) rose over 14% on Monday to 0.20p after the company announced the appointment of a new chief operating officer.
United Oil & Gas, which holds an exploration asset in Jamaica and a development asset in the UK, said Donal Meehan would take up the non-board role with immediate effect.
Meehan previously served as the company's head of commercial and brings more than 20 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas sector.
He began his career at ExxonMobil before joining Providence Resources, gaining international experience across the upstream lifecycle from onshore production operations to deepwater frontier exploration.
Meehan is a former chairperson of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Ireland section and holds a first-class honours degree in chemical engineering from University College Dublin.
United Oil & Gas said the appointment reflected its focus on strengthening operational and commercial capability as it advances the farm-out process for its Walton-Morant asset.
The company, listed on London's AIM market, said the appointment came as it prepares to enter a new development phase.
