Immunic Inc (NASDAQ:IMUX, FRA:10VA) announced that it will host a virtual research and development day focused on relapsing multiple sclerosis on September 9, as the biotechnology company prepares for topline results from its Phase 3 ENSURE trials expected by the end of 2026.
The event will feature Immunic management, including CEO Erik Lundgren, chief medical officer Michael Panzara, chief scientific officer Hella Kohlhof and president and chief operating officer Jason Tardio.
Multiple sclerosis specialists Amit Bar-Or of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Stephen Krieger of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital will also participate.
The company plans to discuss vidofludimus calcium, also known as IMU-838, its investigational oral small-molecule therapy for relapsing MS. Immunic is evaluating the treatment in the ENSURE Phase 3 program, with topline data expected by the end of the year.
According to Immunic, vidofludimus calcium combines activation of nuclear receptor-related 1 (Nurr1) with selective inhibition of dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH). The company is investigating the therapy's potential to address both inflammatory and neurodegenerative mechanisms associated with MS.
Bar-Or and Krieger will provide perspectives on the MS patient journey, existing treatment approaches and areas of unmet medical need.
