Filament Health Corp (OTCQB:FLHLF, NEO:FH), a subsidiary of Ontario-based psychedelic research company Rhelion Life Sciences, has signed a license agreement with the University of Washington in Seattle to supply its botanical psilocybin drug candidate for a clinical trial.
The Phase 2a study will evaluate a group retreat therapy model using the drug candidate PEX010 in adults with advanced cancer who experience clinically significant anxiety and depression.
The trial population will include adults diagnosed with metastatic solid tumors, which are cancers that have spread beyond their original location, as well as incurable hematologic or blood-based cancers.
Existing psychedelic treatment protocols typically pair one participant with two trained facilitators, creating a resource-intensive approach that is difficult to scale across health systems.
The group retreat format is designed to test whether administering therapy to multiple participants simultaneously can address scalability constraints while maintaining clinical safety and effectiveness.
Dr Anthony Back, a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington, is serving as both the principal investigator and the study sponsor.
Filament Health will supply the investigational drug product for the trial, but the company is not sponsoring the study and is not responsible for its conduct.
The new trial builds directly on an earlier Phase 1/2 study of the same group facilitation model conducted at the University of Washington.
Safety and efficacy data from that initial trial, along with a companion paper detailing the facilitation structure, were published in the scientific journal Psychedelic Medicine in 2026, following demonstration of feasibility and symptom improvement.
The investigational drug candidate, PEX010, is a standardized botanical psilocybin product manufactured under good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards, which ensure pharmaceutical-grade consistency.
Filament produces the drug candidate in fixed doses of 0.5, 1, 5, and 25 milligrams using proprietary extraction, purification, and stabilization techniques to maintain identical chemical composition across research sites.
