Emperor Metals drill results show massive gold potential in Abitibi greenstone belt

Emperor Metals Inc (CSE:AUOZ) is sitting on a growing gold deposit in Quebec, and its latest drill results have just made the project much more compelling.

The exploration company discovered a 20.1-meter section of rock holding a rich 5 grams of gold per tonne.

This standout intercept started at 436 meters down the drill hole, which translates to a vertical depth of 375 meters underground.

Finding such a thick and consistent block of gold is excellent news for the company's future mining plans.

Broad layers of gold are much easier and cheaper to extract because they minimize the amount of worthless rock mixed into the haul.

During this drilling program, the geological team also identified visible, free-floating gold, a feature that was not previously recognized or systematically targeted.

Other notable highlights from the site include a 12.4-meter section holding 1.6 grams of gold per tonne.

The company even tested previously unsampled historical rock cores and found three meters containing 2.7 grams of gold per tonne.

All of this work is part of a major 2026 exploration push designed to map out exactly how much gold is hiding underground.

Emperor has completed 20,479 meters of new drilling to stretch the boundaries of a potential open-pit mine.

They are combining this fresh data with roughly 8,000 meters of historical core samples to refine and expand their geological resource model.

So far, the laboratory has processed and returned assay results for about 59% of the new drill cores.

The overarching goal of this campaign is to upgrade the certainty of their current gold estimates.

The project currently boasts an early-stage estimate of 26.9 million tonnes of rock containing 1.46 million ounces of gold.

With these thick and high-grade results, that multi-million-ounce footprint looks primed for a major upgrade.
