Gold Hydrogen Ltd (ASX:GHY) has confirmed helium concentrations of up to 20% from flow testing at Ramsay 2 in South Australia, providing the first dynamic evidence that the helium-bearing Kulpara Dolomite reservoir extends beyond the Ramsay 1 discovery well.
The result comes from the 180-metre gross Kulpara Dolomite interval at Ramsay 2, around 500 metres from Ramsay 1, where helium was successfully flowed to surface and separated.
The result is consistent with the 19% stabilised air-corrected helium concentration previously recorded at Ramsay 1 and supports Gold Hydrogen’s interpretation of a laterally continuous and highly productive reservoir.
Strong reservoir deliverability
Ramsay 2 testing recorded raw gas rates of up to around 128 Mscf/day and helium rates of up to about 24.3 Mscf/day from the Kulpara Dolomite.
Gold Hydrogen said the tests remained constrained by installed pump capacity and completion design rather than reservoir deliverability.
Reservoir characteristics at Ramsay 2 were also interpreted as being similar to those at Ramsay 1, with the company saying these could support a modelled fluid lift rate of up to 20,000 barrels per day under the enhanced completion design planned for Ramsay 3.
The results build on an independent Worley assessment which found that commercial helium development at Ramsay may potentially be viable with as few as 2 wells, subject to further technical, commercial and economic evaluation.
Testing of the deeper Hiltaba Basement also returned air-corrected helium concentrations of up to 19% from a 200-metre gross interval, providing an additional target for future appraisal.
Ramsay Project further de-risked
A key objective of the Ramsay 2 program was to establish whether the productive characteristics seen at Ramsay 1 continued beyond a single well location.
With helium now flowed to surface from the Kulpara Dolomite at 2 separate locations, Gold Hydrogen said the results provide stronger evidence of a laterally continuous helium-bearing reservoir system.
The company holds an independent helium Prospective Resource assessment for the Ramsay Project with a mean estimate of 96 billion cubic feet.
Gold Hydrogen is now working towards assessing maiden Contingent Resources after completion and interpretation of the full 2026 flow testing program, including testing at Ramsay 3.
Managing director Neil McDonald said the results represented a significant progression in the de-risking of the project, with repeatable high-grade helium extraction now demonstrated from a second well.
Pilot project planning continues
Gold Hydrogen is continuing planning for a potential Ramsay Helium Pilot Project while progressing discussions with technology, development and distribution partners.
Subject to the completion of current flow testing and further resource definition work, the company intends to progress an accelerated Front-End Engineering Design program for a helium-focused development.
It is also assessing lower-cost pilot options, including vendor designs and costings for a modular commercial helium plant.
Further testing at Ramsay 3 is expected to provide the next major dataset in the company’s 2026 appraisal campaign.
