Small Cap Watch: Astral advances Feysville plans and Alkane launches capital returns

The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (ASX:XSO) closed at 3,570.30, gaining 1.98% or 69.40 points yesterday, while its advance over the past 5 days stood at 1.06%, or 37.50 points.

Against the firmer small-cap backdrop, several ASX-listed companies have this morning reported operational, corporate and exploration developments, ranging from gold drilling and shareholder returns to project funding and a helium acquisition.

Astral Resources receives full Think Big drill results

Astral Resources NL (ASX:AAR) has received all assay results from a 92-hole, 5,229-metre reverse circulation drilling program at the Think Big deposit within its 100%-owned Feysville Gold Project, around 14 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

The infill drilling was undertaken by MMS and is expected to support an update of mineralised wireframes and the grade control model ahead of mine planning.

Think Big is being considered as an early cash-flow opportunity through a proposed mining joint venture with MMS and third-party processing.

Results included several shallow, high-grade intersections, including 11 metres at 7.34 g/t gold from 33 metres, 12 metres at 5.89 g/t from 30 metres, 11 metres at 3.97 g/t from 33 metres and 16 metres at 2.33 g/t from 37 metres.

Astral managing director Marc Ducler said the company had made “tremendous recent progress” towards developing Think Big through the proposed joint venture.

“The nature of the predominantly supergene-style mineralisation is well suited to the joint venture development pathway with third-party processing,” Ducler said.

Alkane Resources declares maiden dividend

Alkane Resources Ltd (ASX:ALK, OTC:ALKEF) has declared its maiden dividend following a record FY26 performance, alongside plans for an on-market share buyback of up to $50 million.

The company declared a fully franked final dividend of 2.0 cents per share for FY26.

Its first year as a multi-asset gold and antimony producer followed completion of the merger with Mandalay Resources Corporation on 5 August 2025.

The enlarged group operates Tomingley in New South Wales, Costerfield in Victoria and Björkdal in Sweden, which together delivered record full-year gold-equivalent production of 168,337 ounces.

An average realised gold price of A$5,664 per ounce, compared with A$3,770 in FY25, helped drive record revenue, profit and cash flow.

Alkane ended the financial year with A$454 million in cash, bullion and listed investments.

The company will also undertake an on-market share buyback of up to $50 million over the next 12 months.

Alkane reiterated FY27 guidance of 163,000-177,000 gold-equivalent ounces at an all-in sustaining cost of A$2,900-A$3,200 per ounce.

International Graphite completes $4.4 million placement

International Graphite Ltd (ASX:IG6, FRA:H99, OTC:IGRPF) has completed the $4.4 million placement announced in June and July and subsequently approved by shareholders on 3 August 2026.

The company allotted 58,816,313 new shares to Tranche 2 investors.

It also issued 55 million 2-year options to placement participants, exercisable at $0.08 per share.

International Graphite intends to seek approval for the options to be quoted on the Australian Securities Exchange.

Noble Helium moves to acquire Earth Source Hydrogen

Noble Helium Ltd (ASX:NHE, OTC:NBHEF, FRA:GN1) has entered a binding agreement to acquire 100% of UK-incorporated Earth Source Hydrogen Ltd, giving the company exposure to helium exploration acreage in Western Australia.

Earth Source Hydrogen has secured 2 onshore Special Prospecting Authorities, SPA-47 AO and SPA-44 AO, covering a combined area of around 40,000 square kilometres.

The authorities provide the exclusive right to apply for an exploration licence within each SPA area.

A water borehole sampling and testing program has already been completed across both areas.

Noble Helium said detailed independent analysis and evaluation of the borehole samples would now be undertaken, with a summary of results to be released to the market after completion of the acquisition and assessment of the samples.
