X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, is in talks to use stablecoins such as USDC to pay royalties to influencers and other content creators, a person familiar with the discussions told CoinDesk on Thursday.
The talks are ongoing, according to the source, who also works with other social media companies testing stablecoins as a way to pay commissions to creators.
Meta has already begun paying select creators in USDC, reviving its stablecoin push after the collapse of its Libra/Diem project.
Musk's SpaceX also uses stablecoins to collect international payments from Starlink customers.
The talks come as X overhauls its creator payments, replacing its Revenue Sharing program with a new Original Content Rewards Program.
In March, X hired Benji Taylor, a former Coinbase Base design lead, as head of design across X, xAI and SpaceX.
