EV Resources Ltd (ASX:EVR, OTC:EVRSF, FRA:R1EA) has expanded the drill-ready target inventory at its 70%-owned Los Lirios Antimony Project in Oaxaca, Mexico, after mapping confirmed four previously unrecognised mineralised feeder vein systems and four new hydrothermal breccia targets.
The exploration campaign also defined continuity of the San Benito–Cofradía mineralised corridor over about 900 metres of strike and 200 metres in width, while 31 channel samples have been submitted for laboratory analysis.
The new feeder structures — Santo Niño, San Juan, San Ramón and JIU — are interpreted as hydrothermal pathways associated with the carbonate replacement bodies hosting antimony mineralisation, potentially extending the mineralised footprint beyond areas previously drilled.
New targets expand exploration footprint
Mapping and reconnaissance across six priority areas identified the 4 feeder veins alongside four hydrothermal breccia targets, adding to EV Resources’ understanding of the structural controls on mineralisation at Los Lirios.
Field work also highlighted the Carrizales and Santiago areas along the San Benito–Cofradía corridor.
At Carrizales, historical underground workings intersect the San José carbonate replacement body as well as a hydrothermal breccia over a channel width of 0.55 metres. Sampling was completed across these intervals.
At Santiago, antimony mineralisation and hydrothermal alteration coincide with a previously identified geophysical anomaly, which the company said was consistent with a possible hydrothermal breccia pipe. Its geometry, size and continuity remain to be tested by drilling.
Further south at the Cofradía–San Manuel corridor, reconnaissance identified hydrothermal breccia exposed in historical workings, while Tetlate Shaft 3 contained coarse visible stibnite. EV Resources cautioned that visual mineral estimates are not a substitute for assay results and should not be relied upon as an indication of antimony grade.
Interim CEO Miguel Barahona said the latest work had increased the number of potential drill targets while providing further evidence of the hydrothermal pathways associated with antimony mineralisation.
“Thirty-one samples are now with the laboratory, and those results will tell us where the drill rig goes next as we build toward a maiden Resource at Los Lirios,” he said.
Drilling and maiden resource work ahead
Assay results from the 31 channel samples are expected in the coming weeks. EV Resources also plans further trenching, mapping, channel sampling and ground geophysics to refine targets ahead of drilling.
The company has confirmed environmental authorisation for Phase 2 drilling and intends to design and commence a phased diamond drilling program targeting interpreted breccia pipes and intersections between the Santo Niño, San Ramón and JIU feeder structures and the San José carbonate replacement body.
Results from the broader exploration program will also be incorporated into a 3D geological model supporting work toward a maiden JORC Mineral Resource Estimate at Los Lirios.
