The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (ASX) closed at 3,514.30 yesterday, down 0.56% or 19.90 points.
Over the past five trading days, the index has declined 1.33%, shedding 47.50 points.
Against the softer small-cap backdrop, several ASX-listed companies have released project, resource and commercial updates spanning gold exploration, helium drilling, oil redevelopment and high-purity alumina. You can read about the following and more throughout the day.
Critical Resources expands Mavis Lake tenure around Red Hat (NYSE:RHT) gold target
Critical Resources Ltd (ASX:CRR, FRA:9S70) has expanded its 100%-owned Mavis Lake Project in north-western Ontario, Canada, after its wholly owned Canadian subsidiary staked additional mining claim cells around the Red Hat gold prospect.
The two new claim cells cover about 40 hectares and sit along strike from the Red Hat gold showing.
A review of historical exploration records indicates the newly secured ground is interpreted to contain historical drill hole RH11-03, which reportedly intersected 9.174 g/t gold over 1.2 metres from 133.8 metres.
Critical Resources said the historical intercept provides a focused target for verification and follow-up exploration within a broader prospective volcanic corridor.
The claims are contiguous with, or enclosed by, the wider Mavis Lake tenure. The company said no purchase consideration or vendor royalty is payable, beyond normal government staking and claim-maintenance costs.
Noble Helium completes key infrastructure ahead of Kinambo drilling
Noble Helium Ltd (ASX:NHE, OTC:NBHEF, FRA:GN1) has advanced preparations for its upcoming Kinambo drilling campaign, completing several key pieces of site infrastructure.
Work has included completion of the access road network, construction of the accommodation camp and development of the well pads.
The company said its construction program was designed to minimise environmental and community impacts while preparing the site for efficient drilling operations.
With the infrastructure work completed, Noble Helium is now progressing towards the next phase of mobilising personnel and equipment to site.
The company also highlighted the support and cooperation of the local community during the construction phase.
Buru Energy upgrades recoverable oil estimate at Ungani
Buru Energy Ltd (ASX:BRU, OTC:BRNGF) has reported a significant upgrade to the estimated remaining recoverable oil at its 100%-owned Ungani oil field in Western Australia's onshore Canning Basin.
The remaining oil is currently classified as 2C Contingent Resources under the Petroleum Resources Management System.
Ungani has been under care and maintenance since August 2023. Before operations were suspended, production relied on electric submersible pumps, with produced water reinjected into the reservoir.
Oil from the field was transported by road more than 1,000 kilometres to Wyndham before being exported to Asian crude oil refineries, with pricing linked to the Brent crude benchmark.
Buru has since been assessing alternative restart options aimed at lowering costs, improving realised pricing and increasing the amount of oil ultimately recovered from the field.
The review has included reservoir model simulations undertaken by an independent reservoir engineer to assess different production strategies.
Andromeda Metals targets US HPA market through Traxys agreement
Andromeda Metals Ltd (ASX:ADN, OTC:ANDMF) has signed a non-binding Heads of Agreement with Traxys North America LLC to advance a potential pathway for supplying high-purity alumina into the United States.
The agreement sets out a framework for negotiating a potential 5-year sales agency agreement targeting indicative sales of 2,000 tonnes of HPA per year into the US market.
Based on indicative pricing of US$20,000 per tonne, that volume would represent potential annual sales of about US$40 million, although final pricing would depend on market conditions at the time industrial production begins.
Traxys is a global commodity trader and supply chain manager and, according to Andromeda, has been appointed under the US Government's Project Vault initiative to support critical minerals procurement in the United States.
