Diversified Energy Company PLC (LSE:DEC, NYSE:DEC, FRA:DG20) has confirmed it held preliminary discussions about a possible acquisition of Birch Resources, responding to recent press speculation.
The gas producer said talks are ongoing but at an early stage, with no agreement reached and no certainty a transaction will proceed.
Acquisitions are central to the company's strategy, with 35 deals worth more than $7 billion completed since its 2017 listing.
