Cosmo Metals Ltd (ASX:CMO) has confirmed a broad mineralised gold system at the Adder prospect within its Kanowna Gold Project near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, with new diamond drilling extending known mineralisation around 100 metres down dip.
The strongest result came from southernmost hole ADRD003, which returned 31.1 metres at 0.33 g/t gold from 189.9 metres, including 15.1 metres at 0.35 g/t from 189.9 metres and 12 metres at 0.35 g/t from 209 metres.
The broad zone sits about 100 metres down dip from Cosmo's 2024 intersection of 29 metres at 0.48 g/t gold from 87 metres, supporting continuity of mineralisation along the Kanowna Shear. The company said drilling remains limited below 100 metres vertical across much of the area.
Managing director Ian Prentice said the drilling had identified a large mineralised system and supported the company's interpretation that the Kanowna Shear and associated structures acted as pathways for gold-bearing fluids.
Kanowna Gold Project
The Kanowna Gold Project is about 13 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie and adjoins Northern Star Resources Ltd (ASX:NST)'s Kanowna Belle gold operation.
Cosmo's tenure contains more than eight kilometres of strike along the Kanowna Shear Zone, with the southeastern 5.5 kilometres sparsely tested below 100 metres vertical and the northwestern 2.5 kilometres effectively untested.
Recent drilling at Adder comprised three widely spaced holes across about 2 kilometres of the shear zone. ADRD003 was extended to a final depth of 270 metres after alteration, veining, sulphides and pathfinder-element readings encouraged Cosmo to continue drilling beyond the initial target depth.
A second diamond-tailed hole, ADRD002, was drilled about 1.5 kilometres northwest of ADRD003. While it intersected several zones of quartz veining, deformation and sulphides, no significant gold intersections were recorded in its diamond tail.
The drilling remains early-stage, with Cosmo noting that true widths of the mineralised intervals are not yet known and that the current drilling density is insufficient to define a mineral resource.
Next steps
Cosmo is reviewing the latest Kanowna drilling results to refine follow-up targets along the Kanowna Shear, Fitzroy Fault and elsewhere within the broader project area. Further laboratory work is also planned on selected samples and previously composited intervals.
The company is also progressing exploration at its Bingara Gold, Antimony & Copper Project in New South Wales, including soil geochemistry and geological mapping at Antimony Gully and preparations for first-pass drilling at the Mona copper-gold-silver prospect.
