Yield Guild Games and Minds by Animoca Brands name winners of inaugural VibeBlitz AI game jam

Yield Guild Games (YGG) and Minds by Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd (Unlisted (AU):AB1) have named the winners of the inaugural VibeBlitz game jam, with Idle Tactics: Ascension taking first place after a four-week global competition focused on AI-assisted game development.

Hosted through YGG’s vibecode.game platform, the competition attracted more than 250 participants and resulted in 72 playable game submissions, with developers using a Game Designer Mind from Minds by Animoca Brands to help overcome design, gameplay and balancing challenges.

Following a two-week build phase and a week of community voting, 15 finalists were shortlisted before judges selected the top five entries.

Idle Tactics takes top prize

Idle Tactics: Ascension won first place with a browser-based pixel-art idle auto-battler in which players select a hero that fights autonomously while they manage equipment, forge upgrades and choose when to challenge bosses.

The title received $1,000 in YGG tokens and $1,000 in Minds Cognition Credits.

Second place went to Tiny Realm, a pixel-art real-time strategy game combining resource gathering, base building and defensive gameplay against increasingly difficult waves of insect attackers. Its developer received $600 in YGG tokens and $600 in Minds Cognition Credits.

The Last Seal, a dark pixel-art action platformer featuring precision movement and combo-based combat, finished third and received $400 in YGG tokens and $400 in Minds Cognition Credits.

Fourth-placed Agent Fighter, a browser-based 2D fighting game in which human players and AI agents compete through a shared queue, economy and leaderboard, received $300 in each prize category.

Pixel Abyss, a pixel-art roguelike dungeon crawler featuring unlockable abilities, hidden rooms and collectible loot, completed the top five and received $200 in YGG tokens and $200 in Minds Cognition Credits.

AI tools target game design bottleneck

VibeBlitz was designed to address what YGG and Minds see as a key limitation in the emerging “vibe coding” market.

While generative tools have made software code easier to produce, creators can still face difficulties making decisions around gameplay mechanics, progression, balance and overall game design.

Participants used the Game Designer Mind alongside vibecode.game to move from initial concepts and prompts to playable published titles.

Each game was also required to fit within a 32x32 plot styled as part of a virtual neighbourhood, with bonus points available where developers incorporated meaningful references to neighbouring builds.

The judging panel comprised YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon and Animoca Brands game designer Mohamed AbdelKhalek, with entries assessed on plot coherence, playability, creativity, originality and technical execution.

Animoca Brands co-founder and executive chairman Yat Siu said the competition demonstrated the potential for persistent AI agents to reduce barriers for creators.

“Over four weeks, we watched ideas move from a single prompt to games players genuinely wanted to keep playing,” Siu said.

Building an AI game discovery platform

YGG is positioning vibecode.game as both a development ecosystem and a discovery platform for AI-generated and AI-assisted games.

Dizon said community playtesting and voting could provide an early validation mechanism for emerging titles.

“Seeing builders work with the Game Designer Mind to ship great games within tight constraints shows how well this model works,” he said.

“It gives us a clear path to find, test, and support the next generation of AI creators.”

Next steps

The first VibeBlitz forms part of a broader series of game jams planned through vibecode.game, with YGG and Minds seeking to build an ecosystem where creators can use AI tools to develop games quickly before testing them with an active community.

The model is intended to combine AI-assisted development with player feedback and discovery, potentially providing promising titles with a pathway from initial concept through to a broader audience.

About Yield Guild Games
