Filtronic's shares jump on antenna fix

In January, the company said that it was having problems with the development of its integrated antenna product.

Shares in Filtronic (LON:FTC) jumped on news a technical issue with its antennas had been solved and a tooling contract signed with a major telecoms group.

The wireless infrastructure specialist said in January that it was having problems with the development of its integrated antenna product.

“Having supplied a pre-production batch of products to our customer in March and April and following a number of tests by our customer and by a major US operator, these issues have been successfully resolved” the company said.

The customer, a major telecoms industry original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for ultra wide band integrated antennas, has now placed tooling orders worth US$265,000.

The orders will allow Filtronic to bring the product to a manufacturing-ready state with production orders set to follow shortly.

Filtronic also noted that initial production orders had been placed for its new E-band transceiver, Orpheus.
